A Discipleship Roadmap

• Below is a roadmap you can use to help you be intentional with your time as you disciple another person. This pathway is based on The Wheel Illustration (from Dawson Troutman and the Navigators). You can use the roadmap at your own pace, based on who you are meeting with and how often you are meeting.

YOUR FIRST MEETING

Suggestions for starting well!

1. Discuss your vision for the time together; expectations, answer their questions
2. Discuss your meeting plan: when and where; how often?
3. Give them a copy of our 40 DAY READING PLAN in the book of John (or some kind of plan) and talk about how you will engage that together.
4. Go over WHAT IS A DISCIPLE OF JESUS together.
5. Show them the WHEEL ILLUSTRATION  (This is important because the whole pathway is built around this!)
6. Begin preparing your own faith story

THE CENTER HUB – CHRIST

VERTICAL SPOKE – PRAYER

Prayer is the natural response to God as we hear Him speak through His Word.

Prayer  is an opportunity to:
Praise Him for who He is and what you love about Him.
Confess where you have fallen short.
Share your heart with God.
Seek advice from Him.
Rest quietly in His promises and presence.
Ask for help and make requests for you and for others.
Experience union with God.

HORIZONTAL SPOKE – COMMUNITY

A Christ Follower prioritizes relationships with other believers by meaningfully connecting to a local church. This includes corporate worship experiences, small groups and discipleship relationships.

A Christ Follower seeks to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others

God has given believers the joy and responsibility of telling the world about the good news of Christ’s work on Earth (Matthew 4:19). In fact, sharing about His amazing grace is the natural overflow of a rich, vibrant life in Christ (Romans 1:16)

THE OUTER RIM – THE FRUITFUL FOLLOWER OF JESUS

The spokes of a wheel in motion aren’t visible but the hub and rim are. The outer rim of a Christ Followers life is the fruit others see that is a result of one’s obedience and pursuit of Jesus.
