At Live Oak we take Communion together once a month during our main services. It is incorporated into our worship set and is a time for those who are followers of Jesus to remember His blood shed and body broken on the Cross.
- Communion was instituted by Christ Himself at the Last Supper, as described in Matthew 26:26-28 – While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
- We take the bread and the juice as a way to remember and proclaim what Jesus did for us. The bread representing Jesus’s body broken for us and the juice representing His blood shed on the Cross, the full payment for our sin.
- Communion is a time for the believer to self-examine and repent of personal sin.
- It is a time of connection and unity with other believers, as we take communion together.
- It is an act of gratitude for what has been done on our behalf and it is also act of hope as we look ahead to His return.
We plan to share in Communion on these Sundays:
