How To Structure Your Time

When you want to engage in a meaningful discipleship relationship with someone intentionality is key!

  • Be consistent. Plan your meeting dates ahead of time. Always show up!
  • Have a plan of what you want to cover when you meet.
  • We suggest your time with someone be a mix of good questions to ask that help you know someone better, plus ALWAYS engaging and discussing God’s Word together and praying together.
  • One of our staff members loves to start with this question: “What is in the way?”  She explains to the other person that they want to focus on and encounter Jesus during their time and sometimes we bring anxiety and distraction with us. If both people name what that might be it helps “tamp it down” and gives you an immediate on-ramp into prayer together.
  • Here are some other great Conversation Prompts and Questions
  • As for digging into scripture together, one simple and helpful pathway to follow is to work through “The Wheel” together. You can find a full GUIDE for that HERE. If you follow this guide you will have meaningful content to discuss for multiple weeks that drives your conversation to the Word of God.
  • Another great idea is to do a Bible Reading Plan together and discuss what you’e read when you meet. We have several good plans picked out HERE. There is no shortage of plans on the YouVersion Bible App.
