Week 11: Jesus’ Prayer for You – John 17:20-26 In John 17 we see that Jesus prayed for us…for you. He prayed that we would be brought to complete unity so that they world would know Him and believe in Him. Jesus prayed for us. Jesus prayed for unity. Jesus prayed that others would know Him through us. Go be the answer to Jesus’ prayer.
DISCUSSION/REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
- What are your Spiring Break plans?
- Do you have anyone in your life that you think prays for you? Who? And what do you think they are praying for you?
- Do you have anyone in your life that you pray for often? Who? And what do you pray for them about?
- READ: John 17:20-26.

Observations: What are the things that stand out to you about this passage? How would you summarize this passage in one sentence? What does this passage tell me about who God is?
- Doug said that the “so what” to unity would be that “others would know Him through us.” Where do you see that in this passage?
- How do you think unity helps others know Jesus?
- READ: Psalm 133:1. Doug said that somethings life are “good for you”, but not “pleasant”. Somethings in life at “pleasant” but “not good for you”. Unity is described here as both good and pleasant…good and good for you. In what ways do you think unity is both good/pleasant and good for you? How have you experienced that to be true?
- Doug challenged us to “go be the answer to Jesus’ prayer”. In what ways could you pursue that this week?
- What else stood out from this week’s sermon?
- Who can you invite to Easter services at Live Oak? Make a list and start praying for them.
- APPLICATION: What is your big takeaway from this week’s sermon? Be specific.
NEXT STEPS:
Everyone has a next step to apply what we have learned. What is your next step? Be specific.
MEMORY VERSE: *Challenge yourself or your group to commit this verse to memory:
John 17:23 “I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
PRAYER:
Spend some time praying for each other. Read this verse as part of your prayer for your group: Romans 15:5-6 “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6o that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
