For many of us, we aren't able to get out of town for a "mission trip" activity, but we want to serve. Live Oak will have an "in town Mission trip" this year benefiting the families served by Lubbock Impact. We will be hosting a sports and recreation camp for the kids of Lubbock Impact and the surrounding community. Each day the kids will rotate through a series of sports and recess games. After a morning of fun and games, the children will take part in praise and worship and a devotional time and fed lunch before they are dismissed at 12:00 pm.
How do I help?
Answer: We need you to sign up and show up...
It will take place June 7th-9th from 8:00am – 12:30pm each day.
This will take "all hands on deck" to make it excellent. Please consider taking time off work or out of your schedule to treat this like a traditional mission trip. If you are interested in volunteering, you will need to be available all 3 days of camp, in order to create continuity and allow for relationship to develop with campers! If you are unable to serve all 3 days, you are welcome to help serve on the food snack team or nursing team (if relevant) for just one or two days.
Food Prep & Snack Team (9:30-12:30) – Prep of the lunchtime meal. This is the only job if you are unable to help all three days. Must be 16 years or older.
Registration Team (8:00-9:00) - Sign up kids and direct them to their counselors. Organization is key.
Counselors (8:00-12:00) - For Adults only- Adult companion who encourages, oversees, and serves a group of kids during the sports & rec camp.
Sports Instructor (8:00-12:00) – Instruct sporting event or game, coordinate set up, and organize and administrate assistants.
Van Driver Team (8:00-12:30) - shuttle kids in sports camp to and from local parks and schools for activities. Valid TX drivers license required.
Nurse Team (9:00-12:00) - Nursing degree required.
Assistants (8:00-12:00) - a.k.a. helpers. Assist the counselors with students moving group to group and instructors with game set up and instruction.
This camp is for Lubbock impact children, but if you volunteer and have a child ages 5-12, they may participate in the camp as well! If your child plans on attending, they need to be signed up. We provide childcare for volunteer's children who are under the age of 5. RSVP Required.
